Manchester United manager David Moyes has responded to slow progress in this months Transfer Window by stating he won’t be buying players for short-term gain. With United’s defense leaking goals often, many fans had hoped that improvements would have been made by now, but the Scot has warned that the situation won’t be fixed overnight.

“I fully understand understand that supporters are keen for us to sign up some new faces, but January can be a difficult month in which to bring people in,” Moyes told United Review, “We are actively scouting players all the time, and a lot of work we do this month is preparation for a busier summer.”

However United have been linked with several big money signings over the last few days, including Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata and Brazilian Left-back Dante, currently of Bayern Munich. Talks between United and Chelsea are currently going well, with both teams seeming eager to push the deal through.

United are already out of this season’s FA Cup after a shock home loss to Swansea, and this evening will try to overturn a 2-1 deficit in the 2nd leg of the Capital One Cup against Sunderland at Old Trafford, but with Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie still recovering from injury, United fans have been patient waiting for new arrivals. Moyes has seen his side lose 4 out of 5 games already in 2014, but is adamant that these poor results won’t distract the team from their long-term ambitions,

“We are all aware that our club is undergoing changes at present,” Moyes also said, “but I have a clear path in my mind and I know where we’re going.”
