Algerian midfielder commits long-term future to the club

Tottenham were handed a boost on Monday after it emerged midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has signed a new 5 year contract at White Hart Lane.

The new deal will keep the Algerian at the club until the summer of 2020, and has been a main-stay in the Tottenham team under Mauricio Pochettino and Tim Sherwood before that.

Reward for Form

The deal is a reward for the impressive performances that Bentaleb has been putting in, with his aggression and commitment in the middle of the park earning him cult hero status at White Hart Lane.

The midfielder partnered with Ryan Mason in the Spurs midfield last season, however with Pochettino in the market for a new central midfielder it could look as though it’ll be Mason instead of Bentaleb who makes way should any transfer take place.

He joined the Tottenham youth-team in 2013 and has made 41 appearances to date, as well as earning internation recognition with his native Algeria, earning 17 caps so far.
