Liverpool look set to reward Jordan Henderson for his step-up in quality this season with a new deal at the club. The Reds will negotiate the deal when the season has finished after an impressive year so far from the young England international. He has played a key part in Liverpool’s push for Champions League football this season, and is the only outfield player to start every Premier League game, shining in particular during Steven Gerrard’s injury absence.

Eyebrows were raised when Liverpool seemed to overpay for the 23 year old in the summer of 2011, paying ÂŁ20million for his services, but after gaining a couple of years experience at the club, the price tag is beginning to be justified. Last week Henderson admitted he didn’t mind having the ‘most improved tag’ at Anfield, and is proud to have nailed down a starting spot.

“Obviously it’s a compliment, and that’s my aim every time I play- to improve,” said Henderson, “with the staff and players around me at the club I can definitly become a better player here, so I’ve justgot to keep working hard and keep improving.”

Henderson just one Premier League goal for Liverpool this season, but has 6 assists and has enjoyed playing a more attacking role.
