Spanish football expert Graham Hunter says Nicolas Otamendi “wants” to join Manchester United

Hunter also claimed £35million would be sufficient to convince Valencia to sell the Argentina international.

Otamendi, 27, is also a reported target for ChelseaBlues manager Jose Mourinho reportedly asked his agent, who also represents Otamendi, to hi-jack United’s bid.

However, Hunter has suggested the Red Devils are favourites to land the centre-back after being linked with him for most of the summer.

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal was believed to have moved onto other target but the latest developments could encourage the Dutchman to try again for Otamendi.

United need another central defender after using Daley Blind, who normally plays in the centre of the park, during their opening day 1-0 victory against Tottenham.

Pedro on the verge of joining United

The Barcelona winger has continued to be linked with the Manchester club throughout the summer, but the La Liga giants were initially reluctant to lose the 28-year-old.

However, reports have emerged he has completed a medical and is ready to sign for United following his absence from the team ahead of Barcelona’s UEFA Super Cup match tonight.

The Spain international, played 35 games for Barca last season, but more than half of those were off the bench.

In addition, the arrivals of Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal seemed to have decreased the chances of Pedro becoming a regular feature this season.
