Magpies striker admits he may have to leave for regular football

Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse has revealed he may be leaving the club in the near-future in order to play regular first-team football.

The Senegal international has recently lost his first-team spot at St James’ Park to summer signing Aleksandar Mitrovic, and despite his hot-head and lack of discipline, it’s thought that Steve McClaren will stick by the Serbian international.

Mitrovic was sent off after just 16-minutes against Arsenal on Saturday, meaning he will miss the next three matches, which could see Cisse fill in, if he’s still at the club.

According to reports, Newcastle aren’t willing to sell the 30-year-old, but with Galatasaray and other overseas clubs interested, the striker may be tempted to move on in order to play first-team football.

Cisse Tempted by Move

When asked about his future, Cisse said: “I always want to play and I’m always ready but I don’t know if I’ve done something wrong.

“Maybe one day, here or away, I will have my chance to play football again.”
