Footballing legend admits he’d rather play for Arsene Wenger’s men
Brazilian legend Pele has revealed he’d rather play for Arsenal than Chelsea because they play ‘beautiful football’.
The two London sides met at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, and despite the Blues picking up the three points thanks to a 2-0 victory, it was Arsenal who have won over the footballing legend over the past few years.
Pele was discussing who plays football like he did in his time at Brazilian outfit Santos, and he named Arsenal and FC Barcelona as the two that are closest.
When pushed to answer who he’d rather play for between Arsenal and Chelsea, he admitted it would be Arsene Wenger‘s side due to their style of play.
Pele Prefers Arsenal
“Arsenal is a good team to play for,” said Pele. “I like the teams that play open football. Today it is difficult to decide which teams play that way.
“Barcelona are the closest in style to Santos and are almost the same style as Brazil in 1970.
“Between Chelsea and Arsenal? I would play for Arsenal. Do you think I still have a chance?”
Diego Costa
Pele then touched upon Diego Costa and his antics on the football field, and admitted that he doesn’t set a good example to children watching the game.
“That is not a good message for children,” he added.”But I don’t think he always used to play like that. Everybody is allowed to make one mistake but It is not good for football and it is not good for him.
“He didn’t get a red card, but he was charged. It was dirty. Unfortunately so many things like this happen on the pitch and this is not good. That’s clear. It is not good for football.”
