Pep Guardiola stressed that nothing serious happened in the tunnel after his sides defeat to league leaders Chelsea.

Multiple media outlets reported a bust-up between the Manchester City manager and members of the Chelsea coaching staff in the wake of a 2-1 defeat on Wednesday.

But Guardiola claims that nothing serious happened, and claimed his side are always “polite” in their defeats, and even more so when in victory.

Guardiola, speaking at his Friday press conference, said: “Come on. Nothing [serious]. We congratulate Chelsea for the victory.

“We are so polite in our defeats and especially we are so polite when we win, especially that.”

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte did not see the incident, and was instead in the dressing room with his players, and said: “I didn’t see anything because I was in the changing room, to stay with my
players.

“I didn’t see. It’s not important what happened in the tunnel. The most important thing is what happened on the pitch. I think a lot of people enjoyed this game, Chelsea against City, this is the most important thing for us.

“Respect is always important. I think there is a winner and there is a loser. And both must accept the final result and show respect.”
