Thousands of football fans have signed a petition to try and ban Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley from being selected for England’s World Cup squad this summer. The new petition now has over 3000 signatures.

The petition says, ‘Tom Cleverley has 13 England caps, and is often selected for Roy Hodgeson’s England squads without possessing any genuine qualities whatsoever.”

“We believe in the reputation of this proud footballing nation and that he should be prevented from attending this summer’s national showcase. Whilst England are considered to disappoint at national tornaments, further embaressment could be avoided by not having his inept performances undermine the rest of team’s efforts.”

Much like his United team mates, Cleverley has failed to recapture the form that has caused Sir Alex Ferguson in the past to refer to him as a ‘special’ player.
