Veteran set to tell club he wants Arsenal move

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is set to tell the club he wants to leave this Summer and ideally would like to join London rivals Arsenal.

The veteran has been strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this year, after falling down the pecking order this season due to Thibaut Courtois returning from a three-year loan spell with Atletico Madrid.

Despite being told he’d be second-fiddle at the beginning of the season, Cech decided to stay and fight for his spot in West London, but after a season of limited action, he is now ready to quit the club.

Mourinho Reluctant

The 33-year-old, who will go down as a Chelsea great, is set to tell the club that he wants to leave, but wants to stay in London, meaning he could be joining fierce-rivals Arsenal.

Jose Mourinho has tried his best to stop the move from happening, like he did with Demba Ba a couple of seasons ago, but Roman Abramovich has overruled the manager and has told Cech that he can choose where he goes due to his loyal service to the club.

However, The Blues are not prepared to just sell Cech to Arsenal. According to reports, they would want a player in return, in particular, a homegrown player.

Homegrown Player Wanted

Reports have suggested that Mourinho wants either Theo Walcott or Kieran Gibbs in return for Cech, which is something Arsene Wenger won’t agree to.

The Gunners are prepared to part ways with ÂŁ10million for the goalkeeper, whilst Paris Saint-Germain are also linked. However, Cech is desperate to stay in London as he doesn’t want to relocate his settled family.

Cech will be meeting with the Chelsea board and Mourinho later today according to Sky Sports News.
