The defender has been linked with a move away to Stoke
Man United look set to keep hold of Phil Jones, with the player happy to stay at the club and not move to Stoke, according to reports.
The defender has been linked with a move to the Potters over the last few days and reports suggested a deal to send him to the club could be done before the transfer window closes.
However, new boss Jose Mourinho remains adamant that the Englishman is part of the plans at Old Trafford and wants to keep him, even though he has yet to feature for the Red Devils so far this season.
Arsenal were also keen
It hasn’t just been Stoke who have been keeping tabs on the centre-back either – several other clubs have also made enquiries into his availability, including Arsenal, who are desperate to add some more strength to their backline.
Any hopes they may have had of doing a deal for Jones have now been quashed though, with Mourinho not wanting to sell the Englishman. The player himself is also happy to stay with the Red Devils, so it looks like he’ll stay in United colours for at least the rest of the season.
