Bojan has £10 million release clause in Stoke contract

Stoke City face the prospect of losing key man Bojan Krkic during the January transfer window, if clubs stump up £10 million.

The former Barcelona forward joined the Potters for £1.5 million in July 2014 on a four-year deal, and since the Spaniard’s return from knee ligament damage, the 25-year-old has impressed at the Britannia stadium, alongside Marko Arnautovic.

Bojan was tipped to be the next big thing by Pep Guardiola, who was the then Barca boss, before spending time with AS Roma and loan spells with AC Milan and Ajax. However, the one-time Spain international has since adapted to life in the Premier League well.

Chelsea interested in Catalonian

Chelsea are one of a number of English clubs lining up a move for Bojan as it has been revealed that the player has a release clause that is proving good value for money, having made a substantial impact on Stoke’s good form this season.

Liverpool and Manchester United are also understood to be interested and Mark Hughes’ Potters will have to hope that the speculation around Bojan’s future doesn’t materialise into any bids, as they will have no power to turn down a move if the player decides he wishes to depart.

His five goals in 17 appearances have helped Stoke up to tenth in the table, just five points of a Champions League place, and was key in Stoke’s back-to-back victories over Manchester United and Everton.
