Chelsea vs Liverpool – Possible Line-Ups, Team Talk, Kick-off time, Predictions

sillyseason look into the probable starting XIs. The biggest game of the weekend in terms of names comes on Sunday at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea take on Liverpool. The Chelsea vs Liverpool kick-off time is 4 pm.

In terms of importance to the league, it’s not a vital game, but when Chelsea and Liverpool go head-to-head, it’s always a thriller and always promises excitement.

This game could have been so much more if Jose Mourinho‘s side hadn’t ran away with the league and secured the title last weekend after victory over Crystal Palace, or if Liverpool hadn’t fallen away and out of the top-four race.

Back-to-back defeats to Manchester United and Arsenal really cost Brendan Rodgers‘ side dear and they now look set to miss out on Champions League football, unless something drastic happens.

With three games left, Liverpool are four points behind United, so need to win all their games, and hope Louis Van Gaal‘s men slip up twice, which is looking unlikely with so much to play for.

Chelsea vs Liverpool likely line ups

So although it’s a nothing game in terms of the league, it’s still going to be a must-watch on Sunday, and here is how sillyseason have the teams looking.

Chelsea Predicted Line-Up

One of the main reasons behind Chelsea’s title-winning season is consistency. The starting XI rarely changes from week-to-week and the same faces are usually in Mourinho’s side.

The back five never changes, however, I have a sneaky feeling that Petr Cech may start over Thibaut Courtois to get his appearances up to ensure a Premier League Winners medal.

As for further up the field, with Oscar still a doubt after his collision with David Ospina at the Emirates Stadium a fortnight ago, he may miss out, whilst I can’t see Mourinho risking Diego Costa if he’s not 100%.

Chelsea Team Starting XI: Cech, Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Matic, Fabregas, Cuadrado, Willian, Hazard, Drogba.

Liverpool Predicted Line-Up

As for Liverpool, Rodgers has seemingly been experimenting in the last few weeks, but I reckon this week will see him go back to the traditional 4-2-3-1, with two holding midfielders sitting in front of the defence to try and prevent Hazard from running riot.

With Daniel Sturridge confirmed out for four months and the other attacking options less than impressive, I can see Raheem Sterling being used as the striker/false number-9, with Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana or potentially Jordan Ibe down the wings.

The back four will stay as similar as always as Rodgers looks to keep the slim-hopes of top-four alive.

Liverpool Team Starting XI: Mignolet, Can, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno, Henderon, Lucas, Ibe, Lallana, Coutinho, Sterling.

So there are my two teams for this Sunday’s game. What are your thoughts? Comment below!
