SillySeason make their predictions for this weekend’s Premier League matches

After the European break is over, all eyes will return to the Premier League and as it’s Wednesday, it’s time for SillySeason writers to make their predictions.

Lead writer Alex Batt as always will be giving his predictions and this week he is joined by new writer, Jack Barrow.

So without further ado, here are the writer’s predictions for this weekend and game-week 10 of the Premier League.

Saturday’s Games

Aston Villa vs Swansea City

Alex Says: Tricky game to predict this as both teams are in awful form. Tim Sherwood looks lost at Villa Park, while Garry Monk is enduring a tough run of results. Will there be a winner? I’m not sure. Bore draw for me. Match Prediction: 1-1

Jack Says: Simply a must win for Villa, as a loss will surely result in Sherwood being sacked. With Villa you don’t know what you’re going to get. Swansea also need a win following Monday’s defeat against Stoke, so it really could go either way, but I am going to side with Villa. Match Prediction: 2-0

Leicester City vs Crystal Palace

Alex Says: Leicester City‘s form just isn’t changing. 2-0 down to Southampton and they come away with a point. Claudio Ranieri has worked his magic at the King Power Stadium and I reckon they’ll win again here. Crystal Palace usually good on their travels, but Leicester are a tough team to face this season. Match Prediction: 2-1

Jack Says: Both teams have been flying this season so I believe it will be a close call. On the road Palace have been outstanding. One thing is for sure it won’t be a 0-0! I’m going for 4-2 Leicester. Match Prediction: 4-2

Norwich City vs West Brom

Alex Says: Possible relegation battle this and for me it’s a home-win. Norwich City will want to bounce back from their shocking defeat at Newcastle United and I reckon they will do it against WBA. Match Prediction: 2-0

Jack Says: West Brom have a bit of momentum after their victory against Sunderland. Norwich must be deflated after their big defeat to Newcastle. Presure will pile on Norwich with a defeat. I’m going for 0-1 West Brom. Match Prediction: 0-1

Stoke City vs Watford

Alex Says: A great away win from Stoke City on Monday night against Swansea City, while Watford were punished by an emphatic spell from Arsenal on Saturday. I think Mark Hughes‘ men will have enough to celebrate another victory here. Match Prediction: 1-0

Jack Says: Stoke got a brilliant win at Swansea on Monday, and with Bojan back I can’t see Watford keeping Stoke’s attack out. At the other end Watford have only scored six all season, and if they dont start putting the ball in the net they will struggle. I’m going for 4-0 Stoke. Match Prediction: 4-0

West Ham United vs Chelsea

Alex Says: This is a really tough game to call. West Ham have had a great start to the season and have already beaten three giants in the league. As for Chelsea, we all know it’s been a poor start for them. I’ll go safe and say a draw. Match Prediction: 2-2

Jack Says: This will be the game to watch this weekend in my opinion. There has been a lot of talk this week about Jose Mourinho‘s job security. One thing’s for sure if his side gets turned over by West Ham he will be in big touble. West ham have been some force this season and if they get Dimitri Payet on the ball, I don’t think Chelsea will cope. Match Prediction: 4-1

Arsenal vs Everton

Alex Says: What form Arsenal are in. Massive wins against Leicester City, Manchester United, Watford and then Bayern Munich last night. I can only see one winner here and it will be the hosts. Match Prediction: 3-1

Jack Says: Arsenal‘s confidence will be sky high after their win against Bayern. However with Aaron Ramsey being out and Alexis Sanchez a doubt, Roberto Martinez will see this as an oppotunity to grab all three points. Despite that, I don’t think Everton will manage that, but I could see them getting a point. Match Prediction: 2-2

Sunday’s Games

Sunderland vs Newcastle United

Alex Says: The first of two derbies on Sunday and for me, this is Sunderland‘s to win. They always beat Newcastle and I think they will do again despite the Magpies‘ great win against Norwich City. Match Prediction: 3-2

Jack Says: The North East derby and both managers need a win here. Big Sam needs to lift the players if they have any chance of staying up, and he will know more than anyone that the derby is the perfect place to do that. He will also know how weak his defence is, and with Wijnaldum, Perez, Mitrovic all in good form, Steve McClaren will see this as an opportunity to get the fans on board and take all three points. I’m going for 3-1 Newcastle. Match Prediction: 1-3

AFC Bournemouth vs Tottenham Hotspur

Alex Says: I just don’t know where goals will come from for Bournemouth now that Callum Wilson is injured. They may make it tough for Spurs on Sunday as they are at home, but I can’t see them getting anything from the game. Match Prediction: 0-2

Jack Says: Bournemouth are very much the Burnley of this season, small club in the big time trying to stay afloat. Few passionate performances here and there however they have little star quality. There defence is absolutely shocking and going forward they have Murray and Ritchie who could be a pain. But the task is just to much for Eddie Howe‘s side. I’m going for 3-1 Spurs. Match Prediction: 1-3

Manchester United vs Manchester City

Alex Says: The biggest game of the weekend and the big Manchester derby. So unpredictable and hard to call so that’s why I am saying a point a piece. Both teams winning games and both will not want to lose the bragging rights. Match Prediction: 1-1

Jack Says: Another which could go either way. Both sides have made a good start to the season, so it will just go down to who has been prepared better in my opinion. City are the stronger side by a mile and the fact that they’ve scored nine more than United says it all. Match Prediction: 1-2

Liverpool vs Southampton

Alex Says: Jurgen Klopp‘s first Premier League home game and it’s quite a tricky one. Problem with Southampton is they are too inconsistent, you never know what you’re going to get from them. I reckon the Klopp factor will give him a perfect start at home. Match Prediction: 2-1

Jack Says: Klopp will be looking to win over the home crowd in this one, and I think they will be set up well and will attack Southampton. I think he will make a massive impact at Anfield. As for Southampton, they haven’t been great in defence this year, and I believe that will show when they face each other. Match Prediction: 3-1
