Premier League predictions for the upcoming weekend
The Premier League enters December and the busy Christmas period, and this weekend it’s game-week 15.
Going into the hectic schedule, it’s Manchester City that lead the way, with Leicester City, Manchester United and Arsenal finishing off the top-four.
Last year’s champions Chelsea are sitting 14th, while the bottom-three are Bournemouth, Newcastle United and Aston Villa.
This week, Alex Batt gives his predictions for this weekend’s games.
Saturday’s Games
Stoke City vs Manchester City
Alex Says: The Britannia Stadium is a tough place to go, but I think Manchester City will just have enough to get three points here and start their Christmas period off in solid fashion. Match Prediction: 1-2
Arsenal vs Sunderland
Alex Says: Arsenal have had a nightmare fortnight. Losing to West Bromwich Albion and drawing to Norwich City, along with a few more names added to the injury list. Alexis Sanchez will be the biggest blow, but Arsenal should still have enough to see off Sunderland. Match Prediction: 2-0
Manchester United vs West Ham United
Alex Says: Manchester United have come under severe questioning in recent weeks for their style of play, but you can’t fault most of their results. They face West Ham this Saturday, who are the giant-killers on their travels, and I can see them nicking a point at Old Trafford as well. Match Prediction: 1-1
Southampton vs Aston Villa
Alex Says: Southampton were thrashed on Wednesday night to Liverpool in the Capital One Cup and will need to bounce back. As for Aston Villa, Remi Garde is realising how much of an ask it is to be successful at Villa Park. I can see them losing again here. Match Prediction: 3-1
Swansea City vs Leicester City
Alex Says: Garry Monk needs a win so facing Leicester isn’t the fixture he would have hand selected. Leicester have been in unreal form so far this season, and I can see them picking up a point at least here at the Liberty. Match Prediction: 2-2
Watford vs Norwich City
Alex Says: Watford have been the best out of the relegated sides, which not many people expected, but Norwich picked up a solid point against Arsenal last weekend. This is a hard game to predict, but maybe Watford’s home advantage will seal the three points. Match Prediction: 1-0
West Brom vs Tottenham Hotspur
Alex Says: One North London side have lost here already this season, but I don’t think Spurs will. They’ve been superb this season and only lost one game. I can see them winning here comfortably. Match Prediction: 0-3
Chelsea vs Bournemouth
Alex Says: The evening kick-off on Saturday and it should be a comfortable home win for Chelsea. Not the greatest season so far, but I really can’t see Bournemouth causing them any issues. Match Prediction: 4-0
Sunday’s Game
Newcastle United vs Liverpool
Alex Says: Newcastle are still struggling under Steve McClaren, while Liverpool are firing under Jurgen Klopp. The Reds are better away than they are at home, so Sunday should be an easy away win. Match Prediction: 0-3
Monday’s Game
Everton vs Crystal Palace
Alex Says: What an entertaining game this could be on Monday night. Both teams like to play football so it could be a goal-fest. I think Everton will just have enough to see off Palace with Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku on fire. Match Prediction: 2-1
So there are my predictions for this weekend.
