Premier Leagu Predictions: Game-week 6

SillySeason writers go head-to-head in another round of predictions. The Champions League is back with the group stages matches taking place last night and tonight, but SillySeason are already looking ahead to the Premier League and to Game-week six.

With a full schedule over Saturday and Sunday, a weekend full of Premier League action is once again upon us and as it’s Wednesday, that can only mean one thing. SillySeason predictions.

This week sees lead-writer Alex Batt take on Kieran Makin and they will both look through and give their predictions for all 10 matches over the weekend.

So lets get into the predictions for this weekend.

Saturday’s Matches Predictions

Chelsea vs Arsenal

Alex Says: What a great game to start the weekend. Very tough to predict though. Chelsea have been very poor so far this season and Arsenal have been solid. However, against big teams The Gunners do struggle and I think they’ll struggle again against Jose Mourinho. I don’t think they will lose though.

Match Prediction: 2-2

Kieran Says: Both sides haven’t had the start to the season that we had expected from then, but Arsenal have grinded out results against Stoke, Newcastle and Palace and are in better form than the Blues. I think Arsenal will be victorious at Stamford Bridge, especially with Arsene Wenger breaking his winning duck against Jose Mourinho in the Community Shield.

Match Prediction: 1-2

Aston Villa vs West Bromwich Albion

Alex Says: Another derby for Villa and they will pray it’s not like last weekend’s. 2-0 up against Leicester City only to lose 3-2. As for West Brom, it’s been an unpredictable start for them. I reckon Tim Sherwood‘s side will bounce back though and get three points.

Match Prediction: 1-0

Kieran Says: Both struggling to pick up wins. West Brom have kept plenty clean sheets but struggled to score goals. Villa will be low on confidence after squandering a two goal lead at Leicester. A big local derby by tradition but I can only see a draw.

Match Prediction: 2-2

AFC Bournemouth vs Sunderland

Alex Says: If you want to stay in the league, you have to win these types of matches. It goes for both sides really but I think home advantage will be crucial here and go only see a Cherries win. Tough times for Dick Advocaat and Sunderland.

Match Prediction: 3-0

Kieran Says: Both sides are desperate for a win and I fancy Bournemouth here at home. They play good fast-paced football and their fans get the atmosphere going and are really close to the pitch. I think Sunderland will struggle here.

Match Prediction: 1-0

Newcastle United vs Watford

Alex Says: Steve McClaren and Newcastle United simply have to win this game. Yet to win this season after a difficult run of fixtures, but this has to end in three points and I think it will. Watford got a great win against Swansea City last weekend but away from home is a different story.

Match Prediction: 2-1

Kieran Says: Newcastle are desperate for a win but can’t hit the back of the net, no goals equals no points. Watford on the other hand are in good form since promotion, keeping clean sheets and not shipping goals. They also got their first win at home to Swansea last week.

Match Prediction: 1-2

Stoke City vs Leicester City

Alex Says: What a tough game to call. Stoke City usually solid at home and Leicester City have been flying all season. I think this will end Leicester‘s unbeaten streak however just because the Britannia is such a tough place to go.

Match Prediction: 2-1

Kieran Says: Stoke have added star names to their squad but have failed to deliver so far and are still waiting for their first win. Leicester on the other hand are flying and sit second in the league with the confidence flowing and spirit high in the squad.

Match Prediction: 0-2

Swansea City vs Everton

Alex Says: Once again another tough game to predict. Swansea City have had a great start up until last weekend, when they lost to Watford, and Everton have been solid throughout. A very entertaining draw is on the cards here I feel.

Match Prediction: 2-2

Kieran Says: Swansea are strong at home, showing character when they beat United 2-1 after going one down. Everton have started the season brightly and are coming off the back of a 3-1 win over the champions. I fancy Martinez to get one over his former employers.

Match Prediction: 2-3

Manchester City vs West Ham United

Alex Says: Only one winner here really despite their result last night. West Ham United have been great away from home against the big boys, but this will be too much for them and City will win it with ease.

Match Prediction: 3-0

Kieran Says: West Ham have started brightly under Slaven Bilic and sit fifth after good wins at Anfield and Emirates. But, Etihad is a tough place to go and I expect City to keep their 100% record alive and extend their lead at the top.

Sunday’s Matches Predictions

Tottenham Hotspur vs Crystal Palace

Alex Says: This should be an entertaining game. Both pacy sides on the attack and both prone to errors at the back. I think this will be similar to Swansea vs Everton and an entertaining score-draw.

Match Prediction: 2-2

Kieran Says: Spurs have struggled along so far but dug out their first win 1-0 at Sunderland, although it was unconvincing. Palace on the other hand are strong this season, beating the champions at Stamford Bridge and pushing City close last week.

Liverpool vs Norwich City

Alex Says: Brendan Rodgers needs to get a win to get the fans off his back and I think he will this weekend. Norwich City are doing okay in their return to top-flight, but they struggled against Liverpool and think they will once again even though there is no Luis Suarez.

Match Prediction: 2-0

Kieran Says: Norwich have settled quickly to life back in the Premier League and grabbed a good 3-1 win last week at home to Bournemouth. Liverpool have struggled and Rodgers is under serious pressure after the loss to arch-rivals United. Alex Neil‘s men will give it their best but Liverpool will scrape the result.

Southampton vs Manchester United

Alex Says: Another really exciting game to look forward to this weekend. Although Saints aren’t as good as last year, they could still cause problems for United and I can see them getting a point at least. Will be interesting to see how Luke Shaw’s injury effects the United players.

Match Prediction: 1-1

Kieran Says: In my opinion, this isn’t the same Southampton side that we saw last year. They have struggled for goals and I can’t see them winning this one. I think United will grab another top flight win.
