Premier League Predictions This Weekend: Week 17
sillyseason makes their predictions for today’s eight Premier League games. The Premier League is back for another weekend of jam-packed action and with eight games all taking place today, it’s set to be a busy day all around the table.
The lunch-time kick-off takes place at St Marys Stadium as Southampton host Tottenham Hotspur, whilst the evening kick-off is at the Etihad Stadium as Manchester City take on Aston Villa.
It’s going to be an exciting day at the bottom of the table as several sides face each other in the scrap for survival.
Burnley host Leicester, whilst Crystal Palace take on Hull City. Fellow strugglers Queens Park Rangers host an out-of-form West Ham United, whilst Sunderland have a tricky away trip to Stoke City.
Elsewhere, Newcastle take on Swansea City, whilst West Bromwich Albion will look to dump more misery on Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool after their FA Cup Semi-Final defeat.
So with eight games scheduled for today, here are our eight predictions.
Southampton vs Tottenham Hotspur prediction
This game could have been so much more important if the two hadn’t slipped away in recent weeks. Champions League hopes look all-but over, but a Europa League spot is still up for grabs. Saints to ruin Mauricio Pochettino’s return.
Match Prediction: 2-1
Burnley vs Leicester City prediction
Probably the biggest game of the day. Both newly-promoted sides and both scrapping for their lives. Leicester in good form of late but Turf Moor will inspire The Clarets to victory.
Match Prediction: 1-0
Crystal Palace vs Hull City prediction
Steve Bruce’s men need points and need them fast as their season run-in is very tough. Palace are all-but safe and could become complacent against a fighting Tigers, so we are going with a shock away win.
Match Prediction: 1-2
Newcastle vs Swansea City prediction
A game that means literally nothing. Both teams are safe. Both teams can’t achieve a European spot. Bore draw.
Match Prediction: 1-1
QPR vs West Ham United prediction
The hosts still need points to ensure safety, whilst today’s opponents are slipping away from the top and plummeting to mid-table. Hoops to get a vital win with The Hammers already on their holidays.
Match Prediction: 2-0
Stoke vs Sunderland prediction
The Black Cats need points as they are getting closer and closer to the drop. This time last season they started picking up massive points from out of nowhere, but I don’t expect the same. Stoke to win.
Match Prediction: 3-1
West Brom vs Liverpool prediction
Very tricky game to call. The Hawthorns is usually a tricky place to go but they’ve lost silly games in recent weeks. As for Liverpool, who knows how they’ll respond after a terrible few results. Playing it safe. Draw.
Match Prediction: 2-2
Manchester City vs Aston Villa prediction
The title-race is over and City are now in a dog-fight to finish in the top-four. As for Villa, renewed hope under Tim Sherwood and an FA Cup Final ahead, however, City will have too much for them on the day.
Match Prediction: 2-0
