AFC Bournemouth pick up win of the day over Manchester United

Game-week 16 of the Premier League started today with six games in total being played throughout the day.

The first game of the weekend came from Carrow Road as Norwich City hosted Everton, and it was Romelu Lukaku who struck first as he scored in his sixth consecutive game, closing in on Jamie Vardy‘s record of 11-games.

Norwich fought back however and earned themselves a point when Wes Hoolahan equalised in the second half.

There were only four traditional 3pm kick-offs, with most eyes at the Etihad Stadium as managerless Swansea City took on Manchester City. It was a former-Swans star that scored first as Wilfried Bony gave the hosts a 1-0 lead.

It looked like it would remain that way up until stoppage time when Bafetimbi Gomis equalised for the visitors. They couldn’t hang on for the point however, as youngster Kelechi Iheanacho secured all three points for City late on.

The win puts Manuel Pellegrini‘s men top of the Premier League for now.

Other Results

Elsewhere at 3pm, Crystal Palace beat Southampton 1-0 at Selhurst Park thanks to a Yohan Cabaye goal, while Watford beat Sunderland by the same scoreline thanks to another strike from Odion Ighalo.

The other 3pm game ended goalless as West Ham United and Stoke City couldn’t be separated.

The evening game came from Dean Court as Bournemouth hosted Manchester United, who have had a week to forget after their Champions League elimination.

As for Bournemouth, they had recently beat Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge, and they were victors once again this evening.

Junior Stanislas gave the Cherries the lead directly from a corner-kick, before Marouane Fellaini equalised for Louis van Gaal‘s men.

The game was won in the 54th-minute as Joshua King secured another impressive three points for Eddie Howe‘s side.
