Liverpool probably won't spend big this summer
Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he won't have significant funds to spend in the summer, as he looks to get Liverpool back into the top four.
Although he added Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho to the squad in January, the Reds are facing their fourth successive season without Champions League football.
He has been tasked with returning Liverpool to Europe's most prestigious competition but hinted he will have to do so without spending lavishly in the transfer market.
When asked if he had put a time limit on returning to the top four, he said: "I think it's an ongoing process. I've signed here for three years, and I would hope that we'll be in a better position.
"For us, without that lightning bolt of investment you've got to build towards it. And you've got to coach your way towards it and mould a team that can arrive there. And unfortunately, that doesn't happen overnight."
