Recently-relegated club to offload six stars this Summer

Queens Park Rangers have announced that they will be releasing six stars over the Summer, including Joey Barton and Rio Ferdinand.

The Rs were relegated yet again from the Premier League after just a one-year stay, and they are set for a mass overhaul over the Summer in order to try and strengthen their financial situation.

Summer of Change

Chris Ramsay has been given the job full time at Loftus Road and will be working alongside Les Ferdinand and Tony Fernandes to decide who stays and who goes over the Summer.

QPR are known for splashing cash on players in order to keep them in the Premier League, but for a second time running, they have been relegated and failed to stay in the top-flight.

However, with several players entering their final months on their contract, six of them have been told that they won’t be getting an extension in order to free up the wage bill.

Six Released

Richard Dunne, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Bobby Zamora and Brian Murphy have all been told they will be released, whilst Barton and Ferdinand have also been told to find new clubs.

All six players are over the age of 30 and all of them will leave at the end of June once their current deal expires.

New Deals

Despite some over-30s being released, Clint Hill, who is 36, will be offered a new deal, whilst Alejandro Faurlin will also be offered a new deal despite his injury worries.

Karl Henry also has a month to decide whether he chooses to activate his one-year extension on his contract.
