Chelsea won’t be selling Loic Remy now

Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has confirmed that Radamel Falcao has suffered an injury setback in training, meaning the club won’t be loaning out Loic Remy to Aston Villa next month.

According to reports, the Frenchman was set for a short-term loan spell away from Stamford Bridge in order to play regular first-team football, but with the news of Falcao‘s setback, Hiddink now needs Remy to stay at the club.

Chelsea only have three strikers at the club, and with Falcao now set for a longer spell on the sidelines, Hiddink will need to keep Remy at the club as back-up to Diego Costa.

This news will come as a massive blow to Aston Villa, who were desperate to land the striker on loan in order to rescue their season.

Hiddink confirmed the news in yesterday’s press conference that Falcao won’t be back in action anytime soon.

Falcao Suffers Setback

‘We had him in a game and he had this injury again that he had before, on the inside of his thigh,’ said Hiddink.

‘He is back to square one, I think so. He’s in treatment at the moment. He cannot appear on the pitch.

‘He was out and our medical staff tried to build him up, and he had a setback which is not always a positive signal. We hope within 10 days he might be fit again – but not to play.’

Hiddink Coy on Remy

When asked about Remy, Hiddink responded by remaining coy on the matter.

‘He is our player, we are not going into that,’ added Hiddink.

‘We need all our players until the end of the season. You know as much as I do, Chelsea is still in a position where they have to improve a lot to go up the table; we need all the players for the this moment. We don’t go into rumours.’
