Real Madrid have become favourites to sign Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang next summer, despite heavy interest from Arsenal and Manchester City.
The 27-year-old has alerted a number of top European clubs with his quality displays over the last couple of seasons, while playing for Dortmund in the Bundesliga and Champions League.
Arsenal failed with an offer to bring the forward to the Emirates Stadium last January, and are now set to be priced out of the transfer as Spanish giants Real Madrid have set the Gabon international as their number one transfer target in the summer.
It is understood that Manchester City are also interested in him, but have yet to make an official bid.
Aubameyang has netted 98 goals in 160 games for the German side, and that goalscoring form makes Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane want to have him up front with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale either side of him.
Real are confident of winning the race for the striker’s signature, owing to the fact that his lifelong dream is to play at the Bernabeu and in Spain, according to AS.
The La Liga outfit have not splashed big money on a ‘galactico’ since playmaker James Rodriguez who joined back in the summer of 2014.
Aubameyang, an AC Milan Academy product, would be the latest addition to the list of box office players to make the switch to the capital of Spain.
