Real Madrid target signs extension at current club

Kepa Arrizabalaga signed a new contract at his current club, Athletic Bilbao, thus ending rumors of a possible move to Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old committed to a new contract that features a €80 million release clause. The new deal will extend until 2025. He is currently recovering from a foot injury.

“Athletic Club and Kepa Arrizabalaga have signed the contract renewal by which the player will remain with the rojiblanca until 30 June 2025. His cancellation clause will be 80 million Euros”, said a statement from the club.

The previous weekend, Zinedine Zidane had clarified that Real Madrid won’t be as active in the January window, and are not actively looking for a goalkeeper to replace their No.1, Keylor Navas.

With Arrizabalaga out of the equation, Real Madrid’s search for a keeper will run in the background, with David De Gea being linked to a move to the club once again.
