Real Madrid to decide move on Chelsea star
Los Blancos will decide whether they will continue to pursue Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois this month.
Having identified Courtois as a solution to their long-standing problems of finding a new goalkeeper, whose current deal with Chelsea ends in 2019, Real Madrid will be soon deciding on the potential deal involving the Belgian.
The 25-year-old had previously expressed his desire to move to Spain ‘due to personal issues’.
However, Real Madrid also seem to be close on signing a deal with Athletic Bilbao keeper Kepa Arrizabagala, who will become a free agent in the summer.
This would come as a relief of sorts for Antonio Conte, who has been desperate to sort out a new contract for Courtois, having termed him as the “best goalkeeper in the world”.
It works in Kepa’s favour that his contract expires a year before Courtois, and if Spanish sources are to be believed, Real are prepared to pay £22 million to avail the services of the 23-year-old Kepa.
