The La Liga giants are reportedly ready to offer around £45m for the 20-year-old

A source close to the Madrid club has mooted that Raheem Sterling is on their “agenda”.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have also enquired about the Liverpool winger but Real Madrid now look to be leading the chase.

Real officials are set to meet their Liverpool counterparts for face-to-face talks when the two clubs play each other in friendly on June 14, according to The Sun.

Souness’ verdict

Graham Souness, who was a three-time European Cup winner with the Reds, has admitted Sterling is “miles away” and there’s still a long way yet to become a complete player.

“The priority should be playing football and improving and hopefully becoming a proper player one day. All he is, is a promising talent” said Souness.

Liverpool to Manchester

Manchester City seem to be the favourites in England, where the club are prepared to make him one of their highest earners to lure the youngster to the Etihad.

With financial fair play regulations set to be relaxed, City would have no problem in matching any offer by Real Madrid.
