Youngster could leave London

Manchester United have been put on red-alert as West Ham’s Reece Oxford has stalled on signing a new deal with the Hammers.

Oxford has just signed a lucrative deal with Nike that will net him a significant rise from his previous contract making him one of the sportswear giant’s top teenage earners.

The deal reiterates his status as one of the most high-profile young sportsmen in England, but his future at West Ham is not so secure with his current deal due to expire at the end of next season and no agreement over an extension in place.

United are thought to be in pole position to sign the youngster, should he decide to leave London when his contract expires.

Arsenal and Manchester City are also interested in the central defender, who can also play in centre midfield.

Initial talks over a new Hammers deal took place over the summer but the club have been unable to negotiate and put a deal in place.
