The theme from yesterday’s games in Week 4 continued as today there was a shock and yet another red card

Swansea City 2-1 Manchester United

Swansea’s brilliant start to the season continued as they came from behind to defeat Manchester United at the Liberty Stadium.

The deadlock wasn’t broken until the 48th minute when Luke Shaw did some great work down the left before crossing in for Juan Mata who blasted it into the net from close range. However, the lead was gone just after the hour mark when Swansea went on a devastating counter attack that finished with Andre Ayew heading the ball past Romero to make it 1-1. Just 5 minutes later and Swansea had completely turned the match round when Ayew put a brilliant ball through to Bafetimbi Gomis whose shot squirmed under Sergio Romero to give Swansea their third win in a row against Manchester United.

That result means Swansea remain unbeaten and move up to 4th ahead of Man Utd who drop down to 5th.

Southampton 3-0 Norwich City

Southampton’s win over Norwich was a lot more routine as an early red card for Norwich helped Southampton ease to a 3-0 win.

The red card happened just after the half hour mark with Steven Whittaker collecting his 2nd yellow card in just 3 minutes and rightly being dismissed. It looked all set to be 0-0 at half time but just before the interval Graziano Pelle put the Saints ahead after converting from Sadio Mane’s pass. The lead was doubled in the 64th minute when Dusan Tadic rifled home from another Sadio Mane pass and just 3 minutes later, any hope of a Norwich comeback was extinguished when Tadic scored his 2nd with a simple tap in.

That was Southampton’s first win of the season and it catapults them up the table to 10th place, Norwich meanwhile drop to 14th.
