England manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Southampton striker Rickie Lambert will miss the friendly against Chile on Friday night, adding to the ever-growing list of injuries.

So far; Michael Carrick, Steven Gerrard, Kyle Walker and Danny Welbeck have all pulled out of the squad to face the South Americans at Wembley tomorrow night, with Frank Lampard and Daniel Sturridge also doubts.

Lambert, who only recently won his first cap for his country, has suffered a muscle injury and will be accessed on Tuesday whether or not he will be fit enough to take on Germany.

As for his strike-partner, Sturridge, the manager had revealed that he will have a word with the doctors tonight about his availability.

“I have to speak to the doctors tonight about Daniel,” said manager Roy Hodgson on Thursday. “I will get an update on his condition, but the chances are he will be spared for the second game when he hopefully will be 100% fit.”
