Riyad Mahrez proposed transfer to the Gunners is hanging on a threat after Leicester City play hardball over the Algerian sizable transfer fee.
According to reliable sources, Arsenal are on the verge of ending their interest in Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez. The Algerian attacking midfielder joined the Foxes in 2014 and is now demanding to leave the club with his heart firmly set on a move to the Emirates. The move seemed very close as both parties were willing to negotiate however latest reports emerging say that Arsenal are not willing to pay the 50million fee requested by Leicester City.
It is reported that Arsenal will look for other options before actually re-entering in negotiations for Riyad Mahrez. French winger Thomas Lemar of Monaco being mentioned as their top transfer target although this seems as a more complicated transfer as the French side are demaning a fee in excess of 70 million. Other reports claim that Arsenal will put Mahrez deal on hold before continuing talks with the Foxes later on before the new Premier league season starts.
The player is set to travel with the Leicester City squad for their pre season preperations as he continues to push for a move to the North London club. On the other hand, the Foxes are desperate to hang on to their star player and will not negotiate with Arsenal unless they agree to meet their huge price tag.
