Galatasaray manager Roberto Mancini has already given up the hunt for Chelsea defender John Terry after admitting that The Blues captain will not leave Stamford Bridge.

The former-Manchester City boss was reportedly keen on signing Terry so that he could help bolster up the Turkish side’s defence.

The club were even willing to offer the Englishman a lucrative three-year deal, but it appears that the potential deal is no more with Mancini accepting defeat before even making a formal offer.

Mancini and co. will now start their hunt for a new centre-back elsewhere as they are still aiming to compete with some of Europe’s top-teams, but to do so, Mancini knows that reinforcements are needed.

It is expected that Chelsea will offer Terry a one-year contract extension, as his current deal expires this Summer, but due to his age, a one-year extension is all he will receive.

Chelsea have installed a policy which sees players over 30 only receive 12-month contracts.

Both Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard are examples of this policy.
