Rodgers wants Gerrard return

Steven Gerrard could become a coach in the future, says Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers

Rodgers was talking ahead of the midfielder’s final home game, tomorrow evening against Crystal Palace.

He was captain when they lifted the Champions League in 2005 and has also won the Uefa Cup, two FA Cups and three League cups whilst at the club.

Liverpool” was the word his boss used to describe him as he talked about what the midfielder’s options are after LA Galaxy.

One-club man

Gerrard “loves” looking after his city, according to his current manager and the former Swansea City coach shared how “prestigious” clubs have come calling but he has stayed loyal.

With his move to America set to be complete this summer, the 34-year old is already thinking about life after playing – and has started to take his UEFA coaching badges.

Managing style

When asked who has influenced him most out of all the coaches down the years, the former England international insisted they have all helped him to develop as a player.

Gerrard has enjoyed a “fantastic” three years under Rodgers and is convinced Liverpool would have won more trophies if he’d arrived at the club sooner than he did.
