Rodgers: Sturridge can be WORLD CLASS

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes that his striker Daniel Sturridge will keep improving and can develop into a world-class attacker. Sturridge arrived at Anfield just over a year ago from Chelsea for ÂŁ15million, and has proved to be a sort of ‘bargain’ after scoring 29 goals in 36 appearences for Liverpool, the most recent coming their 5-1 humiliation of Arsenal on Saturday.

But Rodgers feels that there’s even more to come from the England international, and that his raw talent will turn him into one of the Premier League’s most feared strikers,

“He’s a natural goalscorer,” Rodgers said, “I know he was disappointed because he had another oppertunity to score with his chip. But he’s a magnificent talent and I’ve always said that over the next few years he has the potential to become a world-class striker.”

“He knows what’s required to become world-class; the consistency and quality you need. He’s been at Liverpool for over a year now and maybe he hasn’t quite had the credit he deserves, because for me he has been very consistent since his arrival.”

“He will always get goals because of his talent, his natural eye for goal. The beauty of the situation is he’s only 24 years old, he still has several years to go before he peaks, That’s been one of the highlights of my career here, to see him not only develop as a player, but into a mature man as well. He’s only going to get better, which is great.”
