Welshman has been assured he will take over from Louis van Gaal

Manchester United officials has assured Ryan Giggs that he will be the man to take over from Louis van Gaal once the Dutchman retires in 2017.

Van Gaal has already admitted that he won’t be extending his contract at Old Trafford once it expires ahead of the 2017/2018 campaign, and according to reports, officials at the club have already promised the job to Giggs.

The Welshman is currently Van Gaal’s assistant, but did spend a few weeks as interim manager following David Moyes‘ dismissal, and he’s already being touted for the Swansea City job.

Swans are on the search for a new manager following Garry Monk‘s sacking, and Giggs is one of the names in the hat, but officials from United have moved quick to dent Swansea‘s hopes by promising the top-job to him once Van Gaal leaves.

Other Names Linked

Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti have both been linked with the manager’s job at Old Trafford, but it seems that the former-winger will be offered the role first.

Questions are already being asked about Van Gaal, following the club’s exit from the Champions League and their 2-1 loss to Bournemouth in the Premier League, but as it stands, his job is under no threat.
