Arsenal yet to open contract talks

Gunners star, Cazorla has revealed Arsenal have not opened talks to keep him at the Emirates

Arsenal’s shining light

The 30-year-old Spanish international has been a shining light for Arsenal this season. The versatile attacking midfielder has notched up eight goals for himself in the North Londoner’s colours, but has set up so many other chances for his team-mates.

He has appeared in all but one of The Gunners’ Premier League outings this season to date, and will be pushing to help them win the FA Cup and secure a runners-up spot in the league.

No contract talks

With all that in mind it seems surprising that news has emerged that there has been no talk of a contract extension for the player at The Emirates. His season of success has alerted clubs back in his homeland, with Atletico Madrid apparently very keen on the player from Llanera, Northern Spain.

Spaniards on alert

The reigning Spanish champions could well be put on alert following recent comments made by Cazorla in Marca: ‘No one has called me,’ the midfielder said,

‘I have a one-year contract and we will see what Arsenal think about the possibility of extending the contract.

‘I do not plan anything else for now.’

Fortress Emirates

Cazorla’s current contract ends in 2016, and it would seem he would like to stay at Arsenal, but the player who was ranked as the tenth-best footballer in the world by Bloomberg in 2013, may attract much interest from around the world if talks don’t begin soon.

Arsene Wenger, The Gunners’ boss, will be keen to put conjecture to bed at the end of the season. He is building a fortress at the Emirates and won’t want players of Cazorla’s quality to leave easily.
