That’s according to the bookies, who have slashed the odds on a potential move to Man United for the player

Sergi Roberto is being linked with a late deadline day move to Man United.

That’s because BetStars are currently heavily slashing their odds on the Barcelona man swapping Spain for the Premier League before the transfer deadline at 11pm tonight.

The 25-year old has been linked with a number of teams over the summer, with Chelsea also keeping a very close eye on the player. In fact, the Blues did launch a bid to sign him a few weeks ago, only to have the bid turned down.

However, it appears to now be their rivals Man United are in pole position to land him.

United’s business was done early

Jose Mourinho has done a lot of his transfer business earlier in the summer but there could still be time to secure a deal for Roberto. The player would be available for a relatively reasonable fee and would provide good depth to the squad.

He is able to not only play as a central midfielder and as a defensive midfielder but he can also fill in at right-back as well – meaning the Red Devils would be able to turn to him as an option in all three of those positions.

Barcelona wouldn’t be too keen to let him leave but Man United have the funds to be able to tempt the Catalan giants into letting him go.

Bookmakers certainly don’t slash their odds for no reason, so a deal could potentially be on the table.
