Legendary Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has heaped the praise on Dele Alli, and said that the Tottenham midfielder can become ‘one of the best players in Europe’.
That’s according to Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson, who revealed his conversation with Sir Alex ahead of his team’s match against Spurs on Sunday.
“I was talking to Sir Alex Ferguson and he said that Alli can be one of the best midfielders in Europe,” the former England manager said in his pre-match press conference.
“I don’t like to put pressure on the young man but there’s no doubt he’s at the top. If you talk about the top midfielders in Europe he would be in the reckoning, and he’s still only 21. The more he goes on is when we’ll see him get really better.”
“There will have been offers [from big clubs] already. Tottenham won’t want to let him go and it would only be one of the top-echelon clubs who could even consider buying him.”
Alli was the talk of Europe in midweek, scoring twice in Spurs’ incredible 3-1 win over Real Madrid on Wednesday night. Los Blancos are one of the names that are said to be interested.
However, in the current market you would expect the England international to cost upwards of £200million. Just how long can Tottenham keep on to him for?
