This coming Sunday, second place Spurs host seventh placed Everton which both teams have plenty to gain from taking all three points from this fixture.

Tottenham boss, Mauricio Pochettino is confident that he will be able to select his first choice defenders ahead of Sunday’s game. Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld, who are also currently Belgium’s first choice centre backs, are key players for the tie in order to stop in form striker, and international teammate, Romelu Lukaku.
As reported in The Telegraph, Pochettino believes the defensive partnership of Alderweireld and Vertonghen could be the key to stop Romelu Lukaku from running riot at White Hart Lane.

From his last 13 games, Lukaku has scored 11 goals for The Toffees and is hoping to carry on this impressive run of form. However, as the two defenders and Lukaku are all familiar with each other from international duties, Pochettino could be right that Alderweireld and Vertonghen will know the big strikers playing style.
The defensive pair’s fitness is to be assessed over the next coming days, and if both are passed fit expect the Argentine manager to utilise them in future games against the Toffee’s.
