Bayern Munich goalkeeper Sven Ulreich has signed a new deal that will keep him at the Bundesliga giants until 2021.

FC Bayern in today afternoon announced the signing of Ulreich’s contract extension for three years more years.

Ulreich has successfully acted as the replacement for injured Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer this season.  Many Bayern fans believe that a quality goalkeeper like Sven may give a stiff competition to Neuer from here on, instead of just playing as his (Neuer’s) second fiddle.

Ulreich wrote:

“I am very happy that Bayern will continue to rely on me in the future and I can help this big club in the next few years to reach its goals. In addition, my family and I feel very well in Munich.”

Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić said: “The past three years have shown that we can always rely on Sven Ulreich both as a goalkeeper and as a human being. Especially in this season, he has a significant role in that we are in the Bundesliga sovereign league leaders and also in the Champions League and the DFB Cup continue to have good chances.”

Bayern Munich are leading the race to win the Bundesliga for the 6th season running. In Europe, they face Besiktas in the last-16 first leg of the UEFA Champions League.
