Swansea have agreed a club-record fee with Atletico Madrid for striker Borja Baston, according to news outlet Sky Sports.
The fee is understood to be £15m, eventually rising to £17m, and Baston expected to fly in for a medical tonight. Swansea City are hopeful of completing the deal before the start of the season.
Baston’s goals helped Eibar to a 14th-place finish in La Liga last season, while he ended up as the division’s tenth top scorer.
The 6ft 3ins frontman showed an ability to net a range of different goals, including strikes from both inside and outside the box, converting with both his feet and head.
Boston has hit the target with penalties, volleys, long-range efforts, powerful shots and tap-ins.
Despite that contribution, Atletico are willing to let such a talent leave as they have the likes of Fernando Torres, Antoine Greizmann and Kevin Gameiro.
But it is thought the Madrid club are insisting on a buy-back clause, suggesting they know Baston could well be a success.
