A journalist has started speculation on Twitter

Ian Abrahams, a talkSPORT journalist, has claimed that Arsenal are in early talks with Paris Saint-Germain to sign striker Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguay international has been consistently linked with a Premier League move in this summer transfer window, and is now on the radar for the North London side.

Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger has admitted he is interested in signing Karim Benzema and certainly has the money to do so. However, Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez has publicly stated the French international will not leave the Santiago Bernabeu.

Now Abrahams has suggested the 28-year old Cavani is Wenger’s main centre forward target. He has also hinted that Wenger may be looking to bring Cavani’s 20-year old PSG teammate Adrien Rabiot to the Emirates Stadium as well.

‘The big striker the Gunners are in for is Edinson Cavani’

On the social media website Twitter, Abrahams tweeted: “Ok so here is my @Arsenal gossip. The big striker the Gunners are in for is Edinson Cavani, Benzema is not leaving Real Madrid.”

He also added: “As I’m lead to believe no deal has been done yet for Cavani, the transfer isn’t imminent but there are talks over a possible move to Emirates.”

“I was also told the Gunners are looking to sign a second player from @PSG_English & that is @Adriien_Rabiiot again no deal has yet been done,” admitted the talkSPORT man.

Rabiot is a highly rated French U21 international midfielder, who could join Arsenal if their pursuit of Sevilla defensive midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak fails.

On the other hand, reports suggest the Gunners will look to tie up the deal for Cavani within the next two weeks.
