In an interview Blues keeper Thibaut Courtois said there is the one area David De Gea is better than him in goal.
And Simon Mignolet!
The 24-year-old United keeper made his comments in La Tribune, while discussing different quality keepers in football.
In the interview he was asked what these other goalies have over him when it comes to protecting net.
He gave an honest answer to the question and revealed that he has a lot of respect for the likes of Manuel Neuer, Gianluigi Buffon and De Gea.
Speaking about Bayern Munich and the German national team keeper, Courtois praised the way in which Neuer can read the game.
He explained that this enables Neuer to be able to help his team out in attack, which is quite a unique skill for a keeper.
Speaking about Buffon, Chelsea’s number one praises his “leadership qualities” before claiming Simon Mignolet is better than him when it comes to one-on-ones.
Courtois also talks about Petr Cech, the man he replaced between the sticks at Chelsea, saying:
“[I have] a lot of respect for him.
“The best guy I have met in football on every level. As soon as I arrived at Chelsea, he always helped and advised me.”
It is his opinion on De Gea which is interesting, considering the keepers are regarded to be two of the best in the Premier League.
