FC Porto striker is linked with Arsenal
Arsenal hero Thierry Henry thinks FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez would be a great addition for the Gunners.
Martinez has become one of the most wanted players in Europe after an impressive season with the Portuguese giants.
The 28-year-old is at the top of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger’s summer transfer list.
Wenger is a keen admirer of the Colombia international, who scored 32 times last season, and is desperate to meet his £25million buy-out clause and bring him to the Emirates in a bid to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
Henry, who is the Gunners’ all-time leading goalscorer, thinks the 6’1 forward would be a ‘good fit’ for the North Londoners.
Henry Approval
The former France star highly rates Martinez, he said: “Jackson Martinez can be a good fit.
“But you already have the likes of Giroud who looks a bit like him as a striker in the way they play, with their back to goal.
“He can be a good addition. He had a good season in the Champions League but you have guys already.
“I think Giroud is more or less the same type of guy. I guess maybe Martinez is a bit more powerful and can run a bit more in behind but we’ll see what Arsene’s going to do.
“Overall the Arsenal strikers didn’t do badly this season.” he added.
