Toby Alderweireld only has a £25million release clause in his contract with Tottenham Hotspur.
Le Soir have obtained a copy of the 27-year-old’s contract at White Hart Lane from Football Leaks, and have revealed all the major details of his deal.
Alderweireld annually earns £2.61m per-year at Spurs, which is topped up by a £5,000 appearance fee and a £261,000 bonus if the club qualify for the Champions League and if he plays at least 30 games in a single season.
The defender has played a key role in Mauricio Pochettino’s side since joining from Southampton for £11.5m back in the summer of 2015.
Manchester United and England legend Rio Ferdinand also thinks that the Belgium international, who has been injured since mid-October, is the greatest defender in the Premier League.
“He’s a lot like Harry Kane in terms of his importance to the team,” he told BT Sport.
“He’s one of – if not the – best defenders in the league over the last two years.”
