Mauricio Pochettino says striker is going nowhere

Manchester United and Chelsea have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane after Mauricio Pochettino confirmed he’d be going nowhere in the winter.

The 22-year-old has emerged as a shock-target of the Premier League champions, with United set to renew their interest after failing to land a deal over the summer.

Chelsea are struggling for goals this season and Jose Mourinho is set to dip into the transfer window in order to resurrect the season.

As for United, Wayne Rooney is still struggling for goals and despite a solid start to his career in Manchester, Anthony Martial is on a bit of a goal drought as well.

With both clubs interested in signing Kane, it looked likely he’d be leaving White Hart Lane sooner rather than later, but Pochettino has reiterated the desires around the club to keep hold of the England international.

Kane Staying Put

“I am happy that a big club want our players – this is because they show they are a top player with top performances,” Pochettino said.

“It is good when they are linked.

“But Harry, like Hugo Lloris, wants to stay here.

“He is one of the best players and he is very happy.

“He wants to grow up with us and try the next few years to try for the top four and win titles with Tottenham. This is his challenge.”
