Swedish striker allows Red Devils speculation to continue

Former Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has kept open speculation of a move to Manchester United after rejecting a return to Malmo FF.

The 34-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to United, and it is understood Jose Mourinho is set to make the Swede his first major signing at Old Trafford.

However, there has also been speculation about the former Barcelona striker making a big-money move to China, having saw his four-year spell with PSG come to an end at the end of the season.

But Ibrahimovic has continued to tease reporters, insisting he will announce his next move once the media has stopped speculating about where he will head to next.

“I want you to still write a lot of stories, so I get excited when I see them, because I want to see who is making up the best story.” said Ibrahimovic.

“When I’m tired of it, I’ll let you know where I will go.”

The 6ft 5in striker will be unlikely to confirm his next move until after the European Championships in France this summer, where he will look to guide Sweden out of a tough group, including Belgium, Italy and the Republic of Ireland.

But excitement about a potential move to Old Trafford, for Ibrahimovic, may have to be put on hold for now.

The former Juventus striker has yet to play in the Premier League, and would prove a fitting end to a high-profile career that has seen him wear the shirt of Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan and, of course, PSG.
