Watford skipper was linked with shock switch to Emirates

Watford striker Troy Deeney has dismissed speculation linking him with a surprise move to Arsenal.

The Hornets captain has been in good form this season alongside red-hot striker Odion Ighalo, but he has confirmed that he has no intentions of leaving Vicarage Road, despite the rumoured interest from Arsene Wenger.

Deeney and Ighalo have formed a deadly partnership for Watford, and with the Nigerian admitting he would jump at the chance to join Manchester United, Deeney has gone the other way by denying any interest in a move to Arsenal.

The 27-year-old was surprisingly linked yesterday with a ÂŁ20million move to the Emirates Stadium, but speaking to TalkSPORT he denied all speculation revealing he has a project to complete at Watford.

Deeney Staying Put

When asked about a possible move to Arsenal, Deeney responded: “No, no, no. We have still got a project to complete.

“The pleasing thing from my point of view and from Iggy’s is people want us. That shows that we have been doing something right for the past five, six months.

“But we have got a project to complete and the gaffer has stated before that whatever happens in the summer, will happen in the summer.

“It is very flattering. My son is an Arsenal fan so he read it in the paper the other day and I don’t think he is happy that I am staying at Watford.

“He doesn’t understand that it is not FIFA and you can’t change the same day!”
