Manchester United and Chelsea both sent scouts to watch Jean-Michael Seri in action in the Europa League.

The 26-year-old was close to a £36million move to Barcelona last summer, but a deal fell through days before the transfer window closed.

United and Chelsea were among the clubs sending officials to cast their eye over him during Nice’s Europa League clash with Lokomotiv Moscow, according to RMC.

Scouts from Tottenham Hotspur, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Lyon, Inter Milan and Barcelona were also in attendance as they kept a close eye on Nice’s talented crop of players.

Chelsea are keen to sign the dynamic midfielder after Tiemoue Bakayoko’s disappointing first season in English football. While Manchester United consider Seri as an ideal candidate to join Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba in a midfield three.
