United and Liverpool fight for Kramer

Reports this week have claimed that the Premier League duo have enquired about Christoph Kramer, but haven’t made any progress towards his signing as of late.

The 23 year-old contract with the Bundesliga side expires in just nine months and will then be available for a transfer.

Despite being close to becoming a free agent, Monchengladbach are still keen to cash in on the World Cup winner in January to prevent him being lured to England in the summer.

The youngster has been highly rated, but after being loaned out to Bayer Leverkusen in two consecutive seasons, Monchengladbach have found themselves in a difficult situation if they are to keep hold of their star prospect.

Manchester United have been linked with the German’s signature, and he could find game time should Marouane Fellaini, Tom Cleverley, Anderson, Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick all be deemed surplus to requirements within the coming 12 months.

Meanwhile Liverpool will look to bolster their midfield and potentially look for a future replacement for long serving captain Steven Gerrard when he finally announces his retirement.
