Valencia are reportedly looking to make a £29.7M bid to re-sign Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata.
Mata, who made 129 appearances for Los Che between 2007 and 2011, has seen his on-pitch opportunities limited this season by the arrivals of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao.
United boss Louis Van Gaal has had a selection headache this season, trying to accomodate Di Maria, Falcao, Mata, Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie in his squad, which has struggled so far this season.
Mata was an automatic choice in his first spell at the Mestalla Stadium, where he scored 33 goals for the Spanish club. He played alongside the likes of David Villa and David Silva. But he has failed to make a major impression this season.
Any potential transfer to Valencia, however, currently hangs on the news of Singaporean Peter Lim’s possible takeover of the club. A move for Alvaro Negrego, currently at United’s Mancunian neighbours City, also depends on the takeover.
Mata has 34 appearances for the Spanish national side, with 10 goals.
