Van Gaal hands United board wish list

Louis Van Gael has identified the three midfielders he would like to try and lure to Old Trafford this summer.

The Red Devils are in need of a midfielder and Van Gael himself admitted his side are in need of a midfielder, with Wayne Rooney having to deputise there in order to balance the creativity of the side, according to his manager.

United fans had called for a midfielder all summer, and Arturo Vidal was a reported target for the club all summer. However with a deal never materialising, the club are back in the market for the midfielder Van Gael desperately wants.

The Dutchman has named his preferred three as Paul Pogba, Kevin Strootman and William Carvalho.

Strootman has recently had surgery and one doctor said it didn’t go as smoothly as they would have liked, circulating rumours that the Roma player’s career may be in doubt. However, this hasn’t put off his former national team coach.

Pogba, a former United youth academy graduate, has been in superb form for Juventus since joining the Series A side on a free from the Premier League side. But, it seems United are willing to go back in for the midfielder if it means strengthening their midfield.

Finally, Sporting Lisbon’s Carvalho is on the former Barcelona manager’s wish list. The young central midfielder has been coveted by Europe’s major clubs for over a year and United seem willing to meet Lisbon’s demands in order to sign the player. Nani has even played up his  team-mate’s chances in the Premier League, if he were to make the switch.

Who the manager will go out and purchase is still up in the air, only time will tell.
