The shot-stopper’s Manchester nightmare will come to an end

Manchester United outcast Victor Valdes is set to return to Spain with Champions League side Sevilla heavily linked with the goalkeeper.

According to reports from Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, the 2010 World Cup winner will join Sevilla in the January transfer window on a free transfer.

Valdes’ move to Old Trafford has been a disaster, he has only made two first team appearances at United and has since been shunned from the senior squad after an argument with manager Louis van Gaal.

The 33-year old also refused to turn out for the Red Devils’ reserve team and failed to secure a move away in the summer, despite rumoured interest from Besiktas, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Out of favour

He has further fallen down the pecking order at the Premier League giants, after David De Gea signed a new four-year deal and Sergio Romero joined from Sampdoria.

Sevilla are apparently in the market for a goalkeeper with Valdes being their main target. Their second choice ‘keeper Beto has suffered an injury, leaving first choice Sergio Rico as the only option for Los Rojiblancos’ boss Unai Emery.
